Painting a Brighter Picture – 30 Years of Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope

The holidays are over, and I look at the calendar and wonder how can it be the 20th of January?  At the Soup Kitchen of Muncie, 2024 is a special year for us. In February we will celebrate our 30th year feeding the underserved in Muncie and Delaware county.  Over the last 30 years, many things have changed, but one thing is certain – there are many people that need food every day and are having trouble getting their needs met.  At the soup kitchen we are ready and continue to meet that need.  In 2023 we saw the grip of inflation eat away at our food budget while our numbers of people needing food continued to rise.

As I go through our numbers for yearend reports, I realize we had the biggest year we have ever had in our 30 years.  We served close to 40,000 people,  which equals close to 80,000 meals (everyone receives 2 meals, hot meal and sack lunch).  As you can imagine, this had a big impact on our food dollars. Having a place you can count on to find a meal and one for later is a game changer when you are trying to meet the challenges each day to survive.  Please help us continue to meet the needs of our guests.

We are getting ready to have our annual fundraiser to celebrate our 30-year anniversary. We need your help! Please think about being a sponsor, buying a table, purchasing tickets, attending the celebration and participating in the auctions.

This year will be different than any other fundraiser we have had in the past.  We are celebrating with a Gala at the Horizon Convention Center on April 20th.  Tickets will be available on Eventbrite February 1st.  More information is available on our website, Facebook and Instagram.   You can contact us through our website anytime.
