HOW IMPORTANT IS A SACK LUNCH?

Once again, the holidays are here.

We have just pulled back from the Thanksgiving table and here is Christmas right around the comer.

It is that time between Thanksgiving and Christmas when we can take a breath between Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday to think about how we can help our community.   Please take a deep breath for just a minute and consider a donation to the Soup Kitchen of Muncie for GIVING TUESDAY.

As many of you know we have had a rough year suppling our guests with a hot meal and sack lunch.  Food costs have skyrocketed with inflation, we all know this just shopping for our families each week or stopping at the gas station, high costs are affecting us all.  We continue providing a hot meal and sack lunch thanks to our donors, volunteers and our board of directors.

This year we have seen really high numbers of guests especially during the summer months an into fall.  In August we served just under 4000 guests which is just under 8000 meals (1 hot meal and 1 sack lunch per person). Our struggle seems to be the individual items we need to make a sack lunch. We have encountered a supply chain shortage in most items at one time or other.  Several organizations provide sack lunches throughout the month, and this is very much appreciated.

We could really use your ONLINE DONATIONS for GIVING TUESDAY starting TUESDAY NOVEMBER 28TH.  Just go to our  our website and click on our donation page and submit your donation, remember to mark the comments GIVING TUESDAY, that is it! Very simple.  We are so thankful for your support.

Our sack lunches are an important item for our guest. They count on that extra meal to fight food insecurity.  Maybe that is a meal they give a sick friend, or relative, or they eat later in the day when they have nothing else.  Maybe they give it to a child who missed school lunch that day.  There are many reasons a single sack lunch can be important.   If you are a parent and that is all you have to give your child, it makes a big difference.

Please help us stock up on sack lunch items with your GIVING TUESDAY DONATION: REMEMBER TUESDAY NOVEMBER 28 TH.

THANK YOU
