The Soup Kitchen of Muncie is a nonprofit organization in Muncie, Indiana, providing many community members the first line of help. Our mission is to feed the hungry of the Muncie Community with dignity and respect without regard to race, gender, sexuality, or religious preference. The Soup Kitchen ensures everyone can access healthy food and connect with community services to support their social and emotional well-being.
We operate five days per week and serve a hot meal and a sack lunch – 2 meals for each guest—one for now and one for later. In 2024 we served over 94,000 meals. More information on the Soup Kitchen of Muncie is available at www.soupkitchenofmuncie.org.
Board members are actively involved in organizational governance, strategic direction setting and are expected to attend at least 9 of the monthly meetings, participate in at least one board committee, make a personal financial contribution, raise at least $500 annually, and manage at least 3 donor or partner relationships.
Based on our recent review of board skills, connections and lived experiences among current Board members, we are seeking four new board members who will help broaden our current board. For this reason, we encourage applications from individuals with human resource, legal, media expertise, management, as well as those connected to foundations, and food related organizations.
The Governance Committee is accepting applications until August 31, 2025, and those interested in board service can complete an application here.
