September is Hunger Action Month and you can take action and help three organizations in one easy effort by giving to the annual Stuff-a-Bus food drive this Saturday, Sept. 28.
The food drive runs from 9 a.m. to noon at the Pay Less Supermarket on McGalliard Road in Muncie.
Volunteers from the Soup Kitchen of Muncie, the Southside Middle School Panther Pantry, and Ball State University Cardinal Kitchen will be on-site collecting non-perishable items to benefit all three organizations.
Donations will be stuffed into a bus provided by Muncie Community Schools and its transportation provider, Auxilio Services, and delivered to those organizations later in the day.
Event organizers will be set up outside the store and will have a wish list of priority items to share with Pay Less customers. Customers can then take the list inside, purchase as many items as they choose, and deliver them to the bus on their way out. Donations will also be accepted.
The Soup Kitchen, Cardinal Kitchen and Panther Pantry each serve a different segment of the population that is affected by hunger or food insecurity in our community.
The Soup Kitchen of Muncie is a non-profit, non-sectarian soup kitchen that serves those in need of food in Muncie and the Delaware County Community. They serve all who are hungry with dignity and respect. Guests receive a hot meal and sack lunch.
The Panther Pantry was created in 2015 as a resource for the Southside students and their families. The program started with four students that took food home every week. The program now provides food and essential hygiene items for over 160 students and their families weekly. Learn more.
The Cardinal Kitchen is Ball State University’s on-campus food pantry that offers nutritional items and hygiene products for any graduate or undergraduate student at no cost. Learn more.
A BIG THANK YOU!
Thank you to Panther Pantry and the Cardinal Kitchen for everything they do and for joining forces at Stuff-a-Bus to tackle hunger from multiple angles in our community.
And a thank you to Pay Less Supermarket for hosting, and to Muncie Community Schools and Auxilio Services for providing a bus.
