Take a moment to look in your wallet or that cup on your dresser or the pockets of your favorite jeans. Did you find a couple bucks? If you did, you’re wealthy enough to be a donor this #GivingTuesday!
How? We’ll get to that in a moment. First, let’s dive into some Soup Kitchen of Muncie logistics. In 2019, The Soup Kitchen of Muncie served over 70,000 meals. We serve each person that walks through our doors a hot meal and a sack lunch for later. Some days this can be up to 150 people! From individuals to entire families, the daily numbers of those who rely on us for their daily sustenance continue to grow and The Soup Kitchen of Muncie doesn’t want to turn anyone away.
That’s a lot of mouths to feed, but our team knows how to make a dollar stretch to ensure each guest receives a nutritious meal. In fact, dollars are what we want to talk about today. It can sometimes feel intimidating to give to charity – like you’re barely scratching the surface. “The need is so great but what can my small donation do?”
Here’s what your donation can do: $1.60 can ensure one person goes home with a full belly. Not even two dollars and you’ve made a difference! Five dollars feeds three people. $20 provides a hot meal for 12 people! (We bet you spent way more than that on Thanksgiving this year!) This is a huuuuge impact for – let’s be honest – small change. Even better: it happens right here in our own community. Donate what you can, whether it’s pocket change or a larger gift. You could even help your children start their own charitable giving with this easy math and make this their first #GivingTuesday!
The Tuesday following Cyber Monday (December 3rd this year) is #GivingTuesday, a specific day that shifts the focus from getting to giving – and we’d like you to join us in our mission. This #Giving Tuesday, help us continue to serve over 70,000 meals in 2020. Donate now at soupkitchenmuncie.org/donate.
